A customer who bought the River Reed bed sent me this picture. I love how the bed looks so comfortable.

Steel and Concrete Cafe Table and Chairs
June 23rd, 2008

As I posted earlier, Delia has found a good man to do concrete. Here is a set of chairs and cafe table with concrete tops. The concrete is stained. The metal is painted. Once we get them into production they will be powder coated. Not bad for the second try.

A Summer’s Day at Delia
June 20th, 2008

What I did on the first morning of summer by Chris Cardy.

img_2679.jpg
Open up the showroom and let in the masses. (that’s a bit of a joke)

img_2686.jpg
Fuel up for the day. We put in $10,000 worth of electrical upgrades into this building but I doubt if anything would really go if it wasnt for that $20 coffee pot and microwave.

img_2688.jpg
Quick photo to document a new lamp design. Its going to a display at a local bank in the afternoon.

img_2681.jpg
New garden pieces. Delia made the bases. Local concrete champion Quinn put in the concrete. Waiting for coloring and sealer. Spiffy.

img_2690.jpg
Unload last night’s batch of Dingles from the kiln.

img_2695.jpg
The Dingles. Probably have to reglaze and fire again. Tiny abacus pieces need more sparkle.

img_2692.jpg
Jeff, shop commander, is laying out the top for a custom bathroom vanity. Going to look dynamite. Customer is tiling top and adding gorgeous glass sink.

img_2693.jpg
The model for a table base I swear I’m going to finish this week. Maybe Monday.

Where the h*ll are the shipping guys?! Time to go find some workers.

Til Next time.

Delia Plants Sun Flowers
June 19th, 2008

Local Delia fans know that we make lots of fun things for the yard. Many of them from scrap and recycled materials. These flower shaped plates are the left overs from a large run of display bases for a pen company. Waste not, want not.

Big Mirrors
June 17th, 2008

One of the great liberations with the showroom is getting to make things regardless of their ability to ship. Nothing says “BREAK ME” like a big piece of mirror. But these get gently hand loaded into some nice person’s car and safely mounted in the home.

Wood Legs and Steel
June 17th, 2008

I’ve wanted for a long time to incorporate handmade wood legs with our steel tables. Here is the very first effort. The two materials look so good together that many more things are to come.

Steel Bench with Concrete Seat
June 9th, 2008

The bench is made from steel. The seat is a two inch layer of tinted concrete. Very affordable. Very durable. Stay tune for more.

Screen Print Table and Base
June 5th, 2008

The previous screen printed top tables we have made have a base with a frame. This is time consuming. Here is a base without a frame. The wood top is thicker and beveled. The edge of the wood is exposed. Nice little occasional table.

Showroom Update
June 3rd, 2008

As local fans of Delia know, we have a showroom. It does all kinds of things like hold the prototypes, work as a design space and as with this Saturday, hosts a fun sale for Delia and hand painted furniture by Lucia Johnson. Since we took the trouble of sweeping up I thought it was a good time to take some pictures.
